1:18 Scale. Don't sleep on the 924!!
What was essentially a Volkswagen project was completed and marketed by Porsche. The 924, in production since 1976, caused purists to scream scandal: for the first time a Porsche was presented with a front engine. The car was actually a very balanced vehicle, with an almost perfect weight distribution. The engine was the 1984cc 125hp in-line 4-cylinder engine derived from that of the Audi 100. The 4-speed gearbox became 5-speed in 1978 (with optional three-speed Sportomatic transmission). In 1979 the Turbo was introduced, but the naturally aspirated 924 continued its life with minor updates: in 1983, for example, the same spoiler as the Turbo was added. The production of the 924 standard stopped with the 1986 thousandth, when the 924S was presented, with the 944 engine. The 924 remains an important model in the history of Porsche, because it is the progenitor of the whole family of front-engined cars and transaxle gearbox. later developed with the 928, 944 and 968.
